Find Joy in the Simple Things

My card today uses Tombow’s Jellybean markers and wow!  These colors are, simply put, gorgeous!  I embossed my flowers from Notable Blooms with white embossing powder onto watercolor paper.  Using a watercolor pen brush and the Jellybean markers, I watercolored the flowers and stems.

Find Joy in the Simple Things

Some of the colors, like Process Yellow, I colored directly onto the watercolor paper and used my brush over it.  I thought these markers blended beautifully and the colors are gorgeous!  The sentiment was also embossed, to make it stand out.

Find Joy in the Simple Things

Be sure to continue on the blog hop and leave some love, for a chance to win an amazing prize pack!

Share Joy 2015 – Thinking of You

Hi, everyone, I’m back with a wonderful and worthy cause that I think is definitely worth, a closer look at.  Share Joy 2015 will kick off on Monday, March 23, 2015.

The Share Joy campaign is proud to partner with Spiritual Care Department of the Unity Point Health System in Des Moines.  In the course of their work providing support to families whose loved ones pass away while in their care, the Spiritual Care team discovered that sending cards to families significantly improves their ability to grieve in healthy ways. Words of love and encouragement make a deep impact when they come on a hand-crafted card, so to assist the Spiritual Care team in their work we will be providing them with cards to send in the months and years ahead. Please join us by donating your hand-made Thinking of You cards.

Here’s a fun little sketch for you to use if you need some inspiration to get started!

ShareJoySketch

Here’s my card for Share Joy 2015.  I used Arched Window and Banner Stacklets 2 as my frame and chose this scene from, From My Window.   I really like how calm and peaceful this image is and hope it brings comfort to whomever receives it.

Thinking of You

The little butterfly (Butterfly in the Sky) was my finishing touch and also holds personal meaning for me.  I have butterfly tattoos (they look watercolored) as a remembrance of two very special family members, I have loved…and lost.  I like to add butterflies when I can to my projects, it’s my own personal touch, and makes me smile.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will join us and Share Joy!

Hey crafty friends!  It’s release day at Taylored Expressions and all of the new products are now available!  I’ve had so much fun this week, I hope you have too!  Todays card used Little Bits Party Dress and wow, what a fun dress to play with!  I used Stick It, iridescent foil, and added some layers for a fun look.  Once again I used Frame in Frame cutting plate (can you tell I absolutely love this cutting plate?) and I used 2 of the frames in this set.

ShellyPartyDressThurs1

The dress and background were embossed using Floral Vine and Dotted Lattice.  I am so impressed with the crisp, embossed, impressions!

ShellyPartyDressThurs2

Here I tried to capture some of the pretty shimmer in the cardstock and foil.

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek: Mixed Blooms and Block Party Love

TECircleLogoPartyHat1

Hello!  It’s Day 3 of our sneak peeks, has anything caught your eye so far?  I have a few more goodies to share with you!  This card uses a previous release, Mixed Blooms, but now it comes with the coordinating die, Mixed Blooms die.  I love that this image has the die as I’ve fussy cut it before, but having the die makes it so much easier!  This card uses Frame in Frame (my favorite!) and another gorgeous cutting plate, Bold Lace.

ShellyMixedBloomsWed1

I colored the image with copics and used Banner Stacklets 1 for the sentiment. Look at how pretty Bold Lace cutting plate is!  I love this as my background and think it would be gorgeous for a lot of projects!

ShellyMixedBloomsWed2

My 2nd card was super fun to make, I used the bokeh technique and love the soft colors in this!  I cut Block Party Love and used washi tape to cover up “LOVE” and keep my lines clean.  If you haven’t tried this technique, check out the tutorial HERE.  Wedding Sequins were the perfect compliment to the colors I used and I love the silver/gold/bronze mix.

ShellyBlockPartyWed1

As a final little detail, I die cut a tiny heart with Stick It, added gold foil to it and put it in my “O”.  :)

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek: Garden Arbor & Gate and Fancy Banner 1

Taylored Expressions is celebrating Release Week with some fabulous giveaways! Visit the TE Blog each Sneak Peek Day this week for details on how you can enter to win.

TECircleLogoPartyHat1

Hello, everyone, it’s Day 2 of Sneak Peeks and I’m super excited to share today’s cards!  My first card uses a gorgeous new die, Garden Arbor & Gate and this die makes the most gorgeous projects!  Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Teams projects with this die and be prepared to have your socks knocked off!  I also used Arbor Fence and Arbor Accessories, two perfect coordinating dies for the Gate.  I am so in love with these dies!

ShellyGardenArborTues1

Do you see what frame I have?  It’s Frame in Frame and a cutting plate that I’ll be using a lot.  There are 4, yes 4, frames in this set! I wanted to make this card a shaker card…the Wedding Sequins are just gorgeous and I had to use them!

ShellyGardenArborTues2

I glued a few sequins on the background so they wouldn’t all settle to the bottom of the card.  I haven’t done that before, glued random sequins down, but I like how it keeps things balanced.

ShellyGardenArborTues3

My second card uses Frame in Frame (again!) and Fancy Banner 1.  There are several sentiments that you can use in Fancy Banner and I wanted to make a baby card.  How sweet is this elephant?  It’s from an older release, Hippy Birdy.  Wispy Grass Border is another new die coming and who doesn’t love a nice grass border?

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek: Carried Away and Forever & Always

Taylored Expressions is celebrating Release Week with some fabulous giveaways! Visit the TE Blog each Sneak Peek Day this week for details on how you can enter to win.

TECircleLogoPartyHat1

Hi everyone, I can hardly believe it’s time for sneak peeks again, but here we are…are you ready for another exciting week?  My first card is so so sweet, look at those balloons!  I used Carried Away and this set is perfect for those summer weddings you have coming up.  I also used a new cutting plate, Frame in Frame.  Let me tell you, you’re in for a treat with this cutting plate!  I’ll be using it all week.  :)  I chose to use the scallop frame in this set and I love how it frames my image!

ShellyCarriedAwayMond1

The balloons were die cut with Stick It and I used teal and and iridescent foil for a metallic sheen.  If you haven’t used this before, Stick It is a super thin double sided adhesive.  I cut the size of Stick It I needed, peeled off one side of the adhesive and put it on card stock.  I ran it through by die cut machine, peeled the other side of the protective paper off, then rubbed the foil sheet over the die cut.  The Stick It made the foil stick to it…and viola!  Metallic balloons!  There are a lot of YouTube videos available to watch if you want more information.

ShellyCarriedAwayMond2

The background clouds were made using Cloud Border and a sponge with some Distress Ink.

ShellyCarriedAwayMond3

My 2nd card is another sweet wedding card that uses Forever & Always.  This die made a quick and easy wedding card…I just added a few little accents and I’m good to go!  I love the Wedding Sequins and they were a nice touch to my metallic background.

ShellyForever&AlwaysMon1

Branches, Banner & Bloom dies were nice accents and I used them for my leaf arrangement.

ShellyForever&AlwaysMon2

Look at how fun this Little Bits Champagne Bottle is!  I used Stick it for the gold foil label and Wink of Stella glitter pen for the rest of the bottle.

Celebrate You

Hi, guys, I’m back with a fun, new, way to use your cutting plates! Today’s card uses the Floral Cutting Plate and while this is a gorgeous cutting plate on its own, I wanted to try something different with it.  I used Label Stack 6 to cut a window out of my card base and then used a portion of the cutting plate, with vellum behind it, to put in the window.  I really love how soft and pretty this looks.

ShellyFloralCP2.25.1

I’ve been finding that a lot of my projects are perfect with the sweet bows from Mini Mix & Match Bows and I had to add one to complete my card. :)

ShellyFloralCP2.25.2

Thanks for stopping by!  I’d love to see what you come up with using your cutting plates too!
