Happy Halloween!

Hi everyone, Halloween is right around the corner, and I have a fun Halloween card to share.  Today’s card uses an adorable Halloween set, Halloween Doodles, and the Spiders and Web dies.  I die cut each spider twice and used a 3D foam square (cut smaller) to add dimension to my spiders.  A white gel pen was perfect for they eyes.

The background paper is from our new Matched Hocus Pocus paper pack.  This paper pack is awesome and full of fun, Halloween designs for your Halloween projects.  I embossed the spider web and sentiment, and added color by airbrushing the web with Copics.  I love purple for Halloween!

Embossed Feathers

I love my Feather die from We R and thought I’d create a card that uses those feathers along with the Feather Embossing Folder.  Let’s take a look at the cast of characters for today’s card…

Sept2014.1

I used half of a Fabriano Medioevalis note card to emboss the feathers on.  This is excellent paper for watercoloring and is so textured and yummy to work with.  These embossing folders rock!  They are 6×6 and nice and large, perfect for covering a whole card or 6×6 page.

Sept2014.2

Let’s take a closer look at how gorgeous this impression is.  The embossing is nice and crisp, without tearing the paper.

Sept2014.3

Now it’s time to run the feather die through.  I used wood paper and wrapped a bit of twine around them for a nice, earthy, look.  I know my die looks a bit beat up, however, that’s what makes these dies so awesome….they take a beating and still cut perfectly!

Sept2014.4

I used a wash of yellow and red for my background and love how the two colors work together.  These watercolors are Kuretake Gansai Tambi and come in different sized sets.  This one is a set of 36 and the colors are rich, vibrant, and lush!

Sept2014.5

Sept2014.6

The last step was to adhere my watercolored feathers and feather die cuts to my card.

Sept2014.8

What do you think?  I really enjoyed creating this card and can see this being done in a variety of colors, each with the same, beautiful, effect.

Sept2014.7

Happy Birthday!

Happy Friday! I’m back with some fun mini cards that are perfect for a quick birthday note.  Our challenge this month was to use Taylored Expressions Pinterest board as inspiration.  There is a whole lotta inspiration there and it was hard to choose just one, but I did!  I used Charmaine’s card as my inspiration and love how she used the Zig Zag embossing folder with the Up Up & Away cutting plate.

2c86156f7f769f7acb03d42b11ef88db

I wanted to make mini 3×3 cards and keep some of the same elements.  I love how color pops with a white background so it was a no brainer to make my balloons colorful and keep the rest of the card white.  I used the adorable Scalloped Notecard as my card base and love how the Zig Zag embossing folder paired with it!

ShellyPinterest9.19.14.1

Look at how crisp the zig zags are.  Can’t beat an embossing folder that gives such gorgeous lines….wow!

ShellyPinterest9.19.14.3

I used a Wink of Stella glitter pen to add a bit of sparkle.  Love the soft shimmer of these balloons!

I couldn’t resist using the Up Up & Away Cutting Plate for the balloons.  I don’t know what it is, but I simply love balloons and if you get a card from me with balloons on them, you’ll know why!  Haha!

This is my card for the Sketch Challenge.  I’m not one to add a lot of layers and so, for me, this was an excellent sketch to get me out of my comfort zone!  I used Mischief Maker Carried Away for my card and was I ever pleased with how well this cutie worked with the sketch!  Up Up & Away Cutting Plate’s balloons were perfect for the birthday theme and having the extra balloon die cuts were wonderful.

The background paper is from Matched Double the Fun.  This paper pack was thought out so well in that it comes in a hang bag so you can store all your left over scraps together!  No more worrying about the paper pads coming apart because these paper packs are single loose sheets!  Below you can see where I added a few of the matching sequins, Double the Fun Matching Sequins.

Another view of the balloons from Up Up & Away Cutting Plate.  Balloons on cards make me happy!

Here is my selfie with my card.  Unfortunately, trying to get a shot in my house with my 4 kids not distracting me, means that it isn’t the best selfie in the world.  Ha!  :)

My second card uses Big Bold Halloween and this set is perfect for cards that speak for themselves.  LOL!  I added a few die cuts from Little Bits Halloween Scene and Little Bits Witch Hat.  Did I mention how much I love the Little Bits dies?  They are always the perfect accent or detail for your cards or projects and I use mine almost daily!

ShellyBigBoldHalloweenWed1

Why, hello little spider!  Background paper is Matched Hocus Pocus…you’ll love the patterns this pack has!

Hi, everyone!  I’m back with another sneak peek of two more amazing sets.  My first card uses Critters in Costume and it has some cute critters all dressed up and ready to trick or treat.  I used the “Boo” sentiment as a background as well as the sentiment.  I love that the Os are little eyes!  The patterned paper is Matched Hocus Pocus and I love that this patterned paper is thicker and excellent quality!

ShellyCrittersTues1

My 2nd card uses a variety of new products, a stamp set called Little Bits of Halloween, Little Bits Haunted House die, Little Bits Halloween Scene, and a NEW embossing folder, Tangled Webs.  I know I mentioned it yesterday, but I want to mention it again that one of the things that make these embossing folders stand out is that they cover a WHOLE card front! Yay!  How many times have you wanted the card front to be completely covered with an embossed image?  Now you can!

ShellyLittleBitsHalloweenTues1

Below is a picture of the embossing folder…covering the whole card.  I used white ink and lightly dabbed it on top of the embossed webs.  I love the white on black!

I am so excited to be a part of Taylored Expressions 6th Birthday Celebration!  This is going to be a knock your socks off week of fun, so let’s get started!  I used the Incentive Set, Think Happy Thoughts for today and I think it’s a set that you are going to love!  It comes with a coordinating “Happy” die and the sentiments combined with the die make this set so much fun!

ShellyThinkHappyThoughtsMon1

Guess what?  Taylored Expressions is release some amazing NEW products this month…this embossing folder, Lots of Dots is one of them.  I LOVE embossing folders…a simple dot folder can take a card or project to the next level with minimum effort.  And guess what?  They measure 4.75″ x 5.75″ and were specifically designed to accommodate an ENTIRE card front!  How cool is that?  Take a look below at Lots of Dots embossing folder in action.

ShellyThinkHappyThoughtsMon3

And there’s more exciting news…Taylored Expressions is launching Matched by Taylored Expressions.  Matched is a new product line that was made to match card stock (premium 100 lb), patterned paper packs, and multi-colored sequin bottles.  My Happy Happy Joy Joy card uses this premium 100 lb Matched card stock in Lollipop, Lemon Meringue, Cookie Monster and Sugar Cube.  This card stock cuts like buttah with the dies and the colors are so gorgeous!  The sequins are Double the Fun Matching Sequins Girl.

ShellyThinkHappyThoughtsMon2

My second card uses Little Bits Party Hat.  The Little Bits Collection has fast become a favorite of mine.  I find myself using them often and they work well with so many stamps and ideas!  Here I used Little Bits Party Hat with Up & UP & Away Cutting Plate.  How amazing is this cutting plate?  Balloon cards make me happy and so I decided the balloons needed fun party hats.  The patterned paper I used is from Double the Fun, which is a 6×6 patterned paper PACK.  This paper pack is not a glued paper pad, but includes 24 single sided sheets that come in a hang bag.  This hang bag gives you a place to store your scraps securely.  The sentiment is again from the Incentive Set, Think Happy Thoughts.

ShellyLittleBitsPartyHatMon1

The card stock I used for this card are Cookie Monster, Lemon Meringue, Candy Corn, Jelly Donut, Sugar Cube, Granny Smith, Oreo, Cherry Pop.  How yummy are those colors?
