Letterpress Typewriters…Hello!

Aug14.1

Hi guys, I’m back with a Letterpress tutorial and I promise, it’s easier than you might think!  Here’s my cast of characters for today’s project…L Letterpress Platform, Evolution, Typewriter Plates, A2 Fold Letterpress card base, and Letterpress Ink in Black, Teal Blue and Gray.  First I used the foam adhesive rectangles to line up my card base on the platform.  This ensures I get exact placement each time.

Aug14.2

What makes this printing plate fun is that it’s a 2 step ink process, which means that my typewriter can be two colors instead of one.  I put the double sided adhesive on the back and lined up my typewriter to the card base.  There is one main plate that fits the typewriter inside.

Aug14.3

Here you can see the typewriter inside of the placement guide.

Aug14.5

The next step is to ink that baby up.  A little bead of ink goes a long way.  I was able to ink up 4 cards with this one drop and had enough for at least two more.  Make sure you roll it out evenly on the plate.  If you use too much ink, it will take longer for the ink to dry.

Aug14.6

Once the typewriter as been inked, you can use a wipe (I used baby wipes) to wipe away any extra ink that is elsewhere.  Close the platform and run it through your machine.  One pass is all it took for me.

Aug14.7

Here is how it looked…

Aug14.8

Time for a color change!  I used a baby wipe to wipe off the ink on the brayer and the plate.  It is pretty sticky, but if you press firmly, it should wipe right off.

Aug14.9

I took out the typewriter plate i was using and popped in the 2nd typewriter for the accent color.

Aug14.10

As you can see, because I left the placement guide in place, it lined up the 2nd color perfectly.  Again, I wiped any excess off with baby wipe.

Aug14.11

Here’s how it came out.  Pretty cool, eh?

Aug14.12

What makes this printing plate cool are all the sentiments that you can put into the “typed message” area.  I used black for mine, but you could use any color.

Aug14.13

And the finished result!  A set of 4 fun Hello cards, ready to go!

Travel

ShellyLuggageTags8.25.1

Hi guys!  I’m back to share a fun travel card using the Luggage Tags die.  These cute dies come with two in the set and are a fun way to create tags.  I die cut the Luggage Tags and used the image and sentiment from In Other Words – Travel

ShellyLuggageTags8.25.2

I cut the bottom suitcase off of the image so it would fit onto my tag better and like the smaller stack.  Though it’s hard to see in the picture, I also cut the inside of the tag out of clear acetate to make it look like a real luggage tag.  I thought this would make a fun card to give to someone who’s traveling.

Hi guys!  I’m back today with a card that mainly uses dies.  I had so much fun putting this card together!  If you’re like me, then you love anything tiny and little.  I used Circle Showcase to frame my little scene and even though this was meant for Pockets & Pages Scrapbooking, it’s also perfect for cards!

The dies are Little Bits Sun & Clouds, Little Bits Flowers & Stems, and Grass border.  The sentiment is from The Little Things and I thought it fit my scene perfectly.

It’s our last day of sneak peeks and today I’m showcasing Moka Madison.  Here she is all ready to go in her soccer uniform, ready for the big game.  I love how sweet she looks.  I used Sports Balls, Star Stacklets and Banner Stacklets 1 to accent my card.

I love how this sentiment could be used as a birthday greeting or as encouragement for a big game.  Do you have any all stars that would love a card with Madison on it?

Hi everyone, it’s day 2 of our sneak peeks and I have a new take on an older release.  My first card uses Made in the Shade 2 which coordinates with Shade Tree Cutting Plate.  This set has four more adorable scenes to use with the popular cutting plate, Shade Tree.  One of my favorite seasons is fall and this scarecrow by the leaf pile is adorable!

My 2nd card uses some fun additions to the Little Bits CollectionLittle Bits Picnic Basket and Ants!  I love how these little dies coordinate to create a fun story!  I also used Little Bits Sun & Clouds and Build a Scene Rolling Hills.  The apples are from Apple Stacklets and work so well with the picnic basket.  I love these dies!

A white gel pen added a little detail and my card is pretty much finished!

Hi everyone, I’m so excited to share my sneak peeks today, school is right around the corner and we’re going to live it up this month before school starts!    Today I have a card using Mischief Maker Back to School and I think she’s so cute!  I paper pieced her skirt and hair bow and love her smart looking glasses.  These glasses dies, Little Bits Eyeglasses, frame her face perfectly.  Apple Stacklets and Apple Stems & Seeds are also new this month and I love all the different sizes of apples in this set!

ShellyBacktoSchoolMon1

Rhinestones added some fun little details to her glasses.

My 2nd project uses a super fun die, Pencil Topper, and I think this is such a clever die!  My kids LOVE having fun pencil toppers and these adorable guys are fitting for back to school!  These critters are from Smarty Pants and have coordinating dies for perfect cuts every time.  The Pencil Topper would also be great for letting your kids make their own!
