It’s time for the Baker’s Dozen Studio Challenge. This is a monthly opportunity for the Taylored Expressions team to share what makes our stamping studios hum. Each month we have a fun, crafty question so we can share our favorites, some tips and tricks, stamping advice and more.
The question for May is:
What is your favorite time of the year? Some of us love the sunshine and heat and summer, while some of us long for the crisp cool air of fall. Do spring flowers make your heart sing or is it snow and the smell of pine needles that makes you jolly?
Tell us about your favorite month or season and also tell us about your favorite time of year to stamp.
My favorite time of the year? All year round, I love all the seasons! But if we’re talking about when I feel most inspired then I would have to say during the summer and fall. Winters here in MN can be rather long…ahem…and this year we actually had snow several times in the beginning of May! Now that is nuts. So, when summer finally shows up we are more than ready for it!
For my calendar project I used From my Window because it reminds me of when we lived in Jersey. It was just the two of us then, without kids, and we’d take long weekend drives, to see the Amish country, shops, and visiting historical sights. We still take drives as a family, but they are unfortunately cut short as I have a child who gets car sick. I love taking pictures and I always had my camera with me, scoping out the best places to stop. The Arched Window is one of my favorite dies and I cut the “panes” out of it so I’d have a full view. I love this sentiment from Moka Skylar and have used it more than once for different occasions! I finished it with Mini Toppers. The Mini Tear Off Calendar is so cute and easy to change once the month is over and of course, you can change the background to match the season you’re in with the Desktop Calendar Case.
My second favorite time to stamp is in the fall. For as long as the winters are here, we have gorgeous colors and foliage in the fall. There’s no better feeling than getting cozied up by the fireplace with a mug of steaming cocoa and something yummy in the crockpot. I love the scenes in Made In the Shade and they fit my 6×6 calendar page perfectly! I did a little paper piecing for the grass and kept it simple with blue skies and colorful pumpkins. Frame Your Imagination is such a cool stand and can hold a lot of pages, calendar pages, scrap pages or recipe pages! These stands are also wonderful for gift giving and are fun to customize. Be sure to check out the full Calendar section to get you started!

It’s sneak peek time at Taylored Expressions and we have some exciting new sets to show you!
It’s Petite-a-Palooza! Petite-a-Palooza features sets from all our illustrators and makes excellent gifts for crafty friends and family. It’s also a great way to get started with TE if you’re new (to stamping or TE) and a great way to add to your existing collection.
I used two new sets, Makin’ A List, by our very own Taylor VanBruggen, and Tick Tock, illustrated by Emily Burger, for my card. I love Makin’ A List and love even more that it coordinates with the Notepaper & Clipboard dies. I also used the Spectacles die as a fun accent. The cork paper, MME Miss Caroline Dilly Dally patterned paper, and Bazzill Rain all complimented each other nicely. I love the Little Bitty Bag too…another great way to tuck in another list or note inside.
Guess what else is being released this month? You Take The Cake! This full sized set was first introduced as a free promotional item during our September Birthday Bash and is now available for sale.
The Baker’s Dozen has inspiration to share Wednesday through Saturday. All of the new products will be available for purchase on Thursday, December 6th at 8 am PST. You’ll find it all in the Fresh out of the Oven Department at the Taylored Expressions Store.

Hello everyone! Today I’m sharing some monthly inspiration for the Calendar Challenge at Taylored Expressions. You’re all welcome to play along and there’s a SWEET prize waiting (worth over $150) if you play along throughout the year! Use any TE Calendar Product and add your direct link to Mr. Linky for the coordinating month. Post to your online gallery or blog. If you upload to SCS or other online galleries, please use the keyword: TECALCHAL. Getting started late? No problem, you can start at any time as long as you post to Mr. Linky before December 31. How’s that for a fun challenge?
I’m using Frame Your Imagination and 2012 6×6 Dated Calendar. You could also use 2013 6×6 Dated Calendar to get started on next year’s gifts/projects early. I love this stand, the calendar pages are easy to get in and out and there’s no worry of any 3D pages getting smooshed. The stamps are from Adventure Land and were perfect for some summer fun!
I used Seeing Stars for a little extra sparkle.
Here’s the die I used for my project:

Good morning! Today I’m sharing a few cards I’ve made over the past few weeks. This card is made with an embossing folder by Darice and butterfly die cuts (Sizzix Bigz & Embosslit) from Stampin Up. Add a few dimensionals and pearls and I have a CAS (Clean and Simple) card that took only minutes to put together.
These two cards were made with a die (Feather Headband) from Lifestyle Crafts. I love this feather! Two feathers come in this set and the other one is quite a bit larger…but equally gorgeous.
This card was made with an embossing folder from SU and a Silhouette file. The flower was cut in multiple sizes with the Cameo and then layered to look like a snowflake.
My last card uses an adorable image from Woodland Critters (Whipper Snapper). I made a cutter file for the stamp, used a SAMJ (Stamp a Ma Jig) to line it up and adhered it with a dimensional. This little guy makes me smile…isn’t he spunky?
Don’t forget Dollar Days will end in less than a week…check out what’s on sale!
