Monthly Archives: July 2012

Happy Friday, I hope everyone has had a great week! Today I have such a fun card to show you…isn’t the hat gorgeous?

ladyhatfeather1

It’s part of the My Hats release and is simply gorgeous! All the images are so feminine and chic…don’t you love them?

I wanted my card to be a bit more dramatic than usual and I decided I wanted to use grays and blacks.

ladyhatfeather2

The image I used today is the $2 deal…you’re sure to love it! It’s also the last week to get the July Club Kit, there’s some beautiful fairy images this month! For more inspiration, check out the gorgeous projects the rest of the DT whipped up for you!

Thanks for stopping by, have a fabulous weekend!

Yay! I’m so excited to share with you a fun new challenge! It was so fun looking at the sets I have and getting to share some of my favorites.

Taylored Expressions is introducing a new monthly challenge for the design team: The Baker’s Dozen Studio Challenge. This will be an opportunity for us to share what makes our stamping studios hum. Each month we will have a fun, crafty question so we can share our favorites, some tips and tricks, stamping advice and more.

The question for July is:
You are stranded on a desert island. The good news is that you find a fabulous stamping hut well-stocked with papers, inks and other stamping supplies, however you only have the 5 stamp sets you brought with you in the luggage you managed to salvage. So tell us, what stamps sets did you bring and why?

JulyStudioChallenge1

I chose these sets based on the the cheeriness of them.  After all, if I’m on a desert island, I’d want to share some island cheer with everyone, right?   I packed Adventure Land, Bon Voyage, Bikes & Trikes, Make it Amazing, and It’s Your Birthday ALC.   Good thing I packed enough sets to spread the love, I might not want to be rescued since I have a fully stocked stamping hut!

My card uses Bon Voyage, a funny coincidence, since I’m stranded here!  I stamped the ship onto Choice Snow White card stock with Tuxedo Black ink and colored the image with Copics.  I used Echo Park’s Sweet Day patterned paper with the Wave Border die and the Waves/Bubbles Impression Plate with the Cloud Duo dies.   Aren’t the swirly clouds cute?   The anchor is from the Anchor and Preserver die and tied with Doodle Twine.

I made a fun card this weekend using the Silhouette Cameo. I haven’t used my Cameo in awhile and I have to say, I’ve missed it! I saw Cute S’mores and knew I had to use it. I’m also following the sketch at Deconstructed Sketch (#61), here’s the sketch:

And here’s what I came up with:

Smores1

I was so frustrated with my sewing machine, it’s so temperamental and this weekend it decided to be uncooperative. Arrrgh! I’ll bet the next time I use it, it will work smoothly. That’s how it rolls. :)

Smores2

Hope you all have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday1

I hope you all are having a great weekend! I have a fun card to share today. I love this A la Carte stamp It’s Your Birthday…it’s fun and colorful, and perfect for all ages. For this card I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Choice Snow White Cardstock, colored it with Copics, and accented it with a white gel pen.

Birthday2

The Seeing Stars die was the perfect accent to the card. I used Doodlebug glitter to add some sparkle to the stars and some foam squares for some dimension. The card base (which is a gorgeous shade!!!) is from the July KI Cardstock Kit and is my new favorite shade of red. A little sewing and I’m set!

Here’s Seeing Stars, lots of fun layering possibilities and so fun to use with glitter!

I hope everyone has been staying cool, it’s been a HOT summer so far! Thanks for stopping by!

Strawberries1

It’s Friday and you know what that means! I have another sweet project to share from ADFD. This yummy cluster is called Vintage Strawberries and is one of my favorites. I have it on a card, but it would also be lovely on a box, album, or scrap page.

Strawberries2

The new challenge is to add some script, so my background paper reflects that. I used Copics to color the image and used Nesties to cut the circle and scallop.

Check out the $2 deal…isn’t he the cutest? Be sure to come play the challenge at ADFD, hope to see you there!

Come see what the rest of the DT has whipped up for you!

Can I just say how much I love Taylored Expression’s July KI? This kit features Cosmo Cricket’s Tea for Two, some lovely embellishments, matching card stock, stickers and gorgeous ribbon.

JulyKI3

I stamped Bikes and Trikes onto Choice Snow White card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored the image with Copics.

JulyKI4

I finished the card with a Prima wood button and sewed a decorative border along the bottom. I love how finished the card looks with this kit!

JulyKI1

My second card uses the same kit but has such a different look and feel to it. I love the colors in this one. I used Hangin’ Out for this card…don’t you love the little bumble bee? The mason jar is a sticker that comes with the kit and the pearl and button add such nice, subtle, details.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share with you!

Happy Tuesday! I’m so excited to show off the new Fall Collection that’s being released today! I’ve had so much fun putting everything together and have more ideas that I didn’t get to yet.

I hope you will have your own ideas (or build off of mine!) as you see what I’m sharing today! Let’s get started with the Treat Carrier! :)

FallCore14

When I saw the Treat Carrier, I fell in love. The box area itself (where you put your goodies) measures @ 2 1/2″ square and is a pretty good size to fit in lots of things. Candles, lotions, mini notes, rolled up baby onesies, just about anything you can think of, will work well in it. I used a women’s travel set and look how nicely it fits! I love the oval labels and banner that come with these dies, they are perfect for adding a stamp, name, or message!

FallCore13

I used Butterfly Punches (also being released today) to accent the Treat Carrier. I cut them out of 100% wool felt and they cut so cleanly and beautifully. I’ve also cut blended felt (not 100% wool) with great success, but usually add a layer of printer paper on top of the felt for cleaner cuts. These are gorgeous butterflies and perfect on their own or layered together.

FallCore9

Remember the Matchbox die from yesterday’s post? I made a matching mini album to go with the Treat Carrier using the Matchbox die. Here’s a close up.

FallCore11

FallCore10

FallCore15

To make the Treat Carrier, you’ll need to cut each of the larger pieces twice. If you cut them once, you’ll end up with half the Treat Carrier. Even so, it’s still adorable and completely usable! Here’s what one of them looks like.

FallCore17

FallCore16

Here’s another new release today, the Business Card Holder. How fun is this?!?!

FallCore24

I cut this out of felt and cut the tabs off (which you’d normally tape/glue to keep the holder shut).

FallCore23

I used the butterflies again from Butterfly Punch and used velcro to keep it shut, although next time I’ll sew the velcro in place (mine is adhesive backed).

FallCore22

A simple slip stitch was sewn along the edges.

FallCore25

What about using this as a way to give birthday money? Ice cream money? A love note to your kids? Or a fun way to carry mini pictures of your kiddos?

If you’re still with me, hooray! I have a few more things to share…

FallCore6

This card uses the smaller butterfly and some pearlized mica fragments.

FallCore7

FallCore5

The sentiment is from A Year of Sweet Sentiments (Taylored Expressions). There’s a lot of fun sentiments in this set!

My next card uses Nesting Lace Doilies, Doily Edge, and Butterfly Punches.

FallCore1

The layered oval is a label from Disc Case Die.

FallCore4

This card uses mostly the same dies, without the Doily Edge. This time I used the two smaller of the Nesting Lace Doilies…the biggest one is huge and would be perfect for scrap pages and/or home decor. I added Twinklets Diamond Dust to the butterfly and a little paper piercing to the larger doily.

FallCore3

A fun and simple way to create a card without spending a lot of time on it! I have one last project to show you and then, I promise, I’m done for the day! LOL!

FallCore20

Another quick Matchbox project and I love it because it fits the mini envelope from the Eyelet Envelope Set.

FallCore19

What a fun way to give a mini note and matching envelope set! The feather is from Feather Headband (one of my all time favorites!).

Maritime2

Happy Monday! I’ve been waiting for this release to come, it’s so cute and perfect for boys! For this card, I used Sailboat and Wave Edges. I love how the bright burst of color looks against the white card base.

Maritime1

I used a white gel pen to accent and sailboat and cut some of the pieces twice to add dimension.

Maritime6

Here’s another card that uses the same die along with the Braid die. This border die is perfect for 12×12 scrap pages and is such a fun look!

I decided to take it a step further and used the Matchbox die with the Braid die, Links die, and Anchor die to make little treat boxes.

Maritime3

I made a window by using Nesting Frame 9 and some acetate for one of the treat boxes. My kids were thrilled to see Peanut M&Ms looking back at them!

Maritime4

Here’s a look at the dies I used. Don’t forget to use Promo Code “POP” at Lifestyle Crafts for 20% off!

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to stop back tomorrow to see a sweet and shabby project!

Happy Friday, everyone! I had an interesting day yesterday as I had a mass on my foot surgically removed. Everything was going pretty smoothly until my surgeon forgot to show up. Yes, he didn’t see it on his calendar. Hmph. Once they got a hold of him, he was in pretty quickly and it was over in under 30 minutes. I think the part that had me in stitches (pun intended) was when the surgeon (who did my husband’s sports hernia surgery a few months ago) asked my husband (who drove me) how his groin was. The nurse had no idea the two knew each other and the face she made (complete with her eyes popping out) was beyond funny!

Okay, on with today’s post! This adorable girl is called Cotton Candy For Me. Isn’t this the sweetest image? AND, it’s also the $2 deal...who can resist? :)

CottonCandy1

I used Copics to color the image and a cotton ball that I airbrushed for the cotton candy. I love how realistic the cotton candy looks…nice and fluffy and oh sooooo yummy!

CottonCandy2

Check out the rest of the images for Cotton Candy and Pony Rides…they are all adorable (you can also buy the images individually)!

Be sure to check out what the rest of the DT has whipped up for you, there’s some yummy eye candy to see! Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your weekend!

Good morning! Today I have a fun card to show you from Taylored Expressions. I used CAS178 challenge at SCS, Fairy Tales. Moka Pearl was the perfect choice for the Fairy Tale Challenge!

Swimmingby4

I had a lot of fun coloring Moka Pearl and creating her pink water. I stamped her onto Choice Snow White card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her with Copics.

Swimmingby3

The patterned paper is Jillibean Soup Southern Chicken Dumpling Soup and I used it with the Wave Border Die. The pink wave is glittered card stock from Doodlebug. The Cloud Duo die and the Life Preserver & Anchor die helped complete the card.

Here are the dies I used:

Thanks for stopping by, hope you’re all having a great week!
